Four more days and we will be in Texas again! Twelve more days and my baby boy will be a married man! Two weeks ago my future daughter in law received her nurse's pin and graduated from college. One week ago Paul's dream to own his own select baseball organization became a reality. One month ago Jay closed on his first home. Kelli and Doug just celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary last week. Joe and I are coming up on our first year in China. Can you believe 2009 is almost half over already!? Our life is filled with countdowns! (Mine anyway)
On June 13 the countdown for Jay's and Ashley's wedding will finally run down. I'm so excited to be coming home for such a joyous occasion. They are so ready to begin their lives together. We are lucky to be getting Ashley in our family. Just being with family and friends for this special event is exciting. I can't wait for the party to start!
It's been six months since Joe has seen the family and he's ready to get in some much needed together time. Talon changes so much in the times we are away from him that it's always good to see him and how he has grown.
These past few weeks have been one countdown after another for me as well as my friends here in China. This time of year people here in Chengdu are making arrangements to take extended trips back to their home countries/states for the summer to visit family and friends. These trips home will last anywhere from a couple of weeks to the entire summer. On Saturday I said goodbye to one friend that will not be back in China until September. It's not all about going home, it's also about family and friends coming here for summer trips. Some have college kids who will come here to spend the summer. Everywhere you go someone is talking about making travel arrangements or arranging tour trips.
A couple of weeks ago we had a surprise garden party for a friend who will celebrate her 50th birthday in June. She was quite surprised since we were three weeks early! This is a very important milestone for her and she was looking forward to celebrating with friends at a special luncheon she's planned. We had to celebrate early since most everyone will be out of the country on her actual birthday.
It's nice to be going home to spend a couple of weeks. I'm afraid it may be a long summer when we return since so many of our friends will be coming and going out of the country between now and the end of August.
Oh well, I guess that will be one of my next countdowns (counting the days when friends return to Chengdu). That along with the one for our 30th anniversary in September, our trip home for Christmas, our next China visitors. The countdown list is endless!
Love to all, see you soon!
