The start of
the weekend began with a trip to the Flower Market with my friend Kat
ie. Most of my friends had already a made trip to the market but this was my first time. What a wonderful experience! Row upon row of fresh cut flowers and greenery. Long stemmed roses in every color imaginable.
Katie actually got one dozen roses for 12 RMB ($1.00 = 6.83 RMB). That's about $1.76! What a deal. They will even make arrangements while you wait. We saw just about every flower you can imagine. Everything is cut, ready to go into flower arrangements. The roses are individually wrapped for protection. I was able to find a few plants for my front porch and some beautiful sunflowers for my living room. And, of course, I also saw the most precious little boy sitting with his puppy.
Who could resist? I know I couldn't! Saturday was our day to run errands. Joe finally got his BBQ grill ordered and we got it this week. I finally got an ayi (maid) and she starts Tuesday. Needless to say we both had reason to pick up a few things. We also got some speakers so we now have a way to get music to the backyard.
On Sunday Joe got his grill ready to go and did some major cleaning on our patio. We found a meat distributor that has some good quality meat. Steaks imported from Australia. Sunday night we had the most wonderful steaks (grilled by Joe, of course), baked potatoes, wine and salad. It made us feel like we were back home on Sunday evening which was when we usually had this very same meal.
The littlest pleasures will take you by surprise, especially when you haven't had them in a long time.
